It's going to take time to learn a new software program and I am very grateful to this Support Forum.The goal of the Family Book Creator plugin for Family Tree Maker (FTM) is to create a book document that allows you to publish a family history book from data stored in your Family Tree Maker database, more or less on the fly – in just a few steps.įamily Book Creator has been developed over a long period of time. I am sure some data, notes & media have got lost along the way, but at a glance, it does appear that I can now start using my family files in FH. Creating a GEDCOM from that FTM 2014 does let you link Media, so that finally created GEDCOM imported into FH with all the Data, Notes & Media. That resulted in a file that included the data, the notes & the media. A GEDCOM created from a FTM 2009 file will thus result in a FH file with all the data, notes etc, but NO media!ģ- I then converted my newly created FTM 2009 file into a FTM 2014 file. I then tried to create a GEDCOM from that FTM 2009 file, only to discover the box that lets you link any attached media is 'Greyed Out' thus not letting you create a GEDCOM with linked Media. I looked at that file & ALL the notes DID import. I guess many of these people will be looking to transfer to using FH & it's these users who will face the issues I had.ġ- If you are using FTM v16 and convert it to a FTM 2014 file, none of the notes in your Note Field will be imported, thus the GEDCOM file you create from that to import into FH, will also be missing your Notes.Ģ- I luckily had a copy of FTM 2009, so I converted my FTM V16 file into a FTM 2009 File. There are many people out there who prefer using the 'Old' versions of FTM, like FTM v16. I have spent hours trying to sort out all the issues I had & I can now report I finally found a solution which I wish to share here in case others come across the same problems. Mike, thank you for all your help & advice. That's gonna be a huge time-consuming job unless I can get the v16 to 2014 conversion to work properly. If they don't, I either have to find out if this is an unsolvable issue converting v16 files into FTM 2014 & if so, I guess I have no choice but to copy & paste every single person note.

I am creating a fresh import of my FTMv16 file into FTM 2014 & I am sure if that works this time round, the notes will import into FH6. This still doesn't explain why the person notes in my smaller test file imported into FH6 do show the notes? This would explain why they don't show in FH6 as they are not in the imported GEDCOM. I have just looked at the Family File created from V16 to 2014 & lo & behold, the person notes from V16 are not showing up in 2014.
